Trucks for Change (T4C) raised $2,315 in cash and non-perishable goods during a food drive at Truck World in April, with all donations going to the Newmarket Food Pantry, which supports over 1,000 people each month by providing supplementary nutritional aid to families, said Betsy Sharples, the organization’s executive director, announced during the T4C partnership appreciation luncheon Oct. 17 in Toronto.
The food drive was just one of several initiatives T4C carried out this year.
Since T4C’s LTL (less-than-truckload) delivery program was launched in May 2023, its network carriers have delivered 1.7 million pounds of food to more than 52 food banks across Canada.
Overall, since T4C was founded in 2011 to utilize extra trucking capacity to help deliver goods to charities, food banks, and remote communities in need, the organization has delivered approximately 30 million pounds of goods across the country.
Other notable programs include the After the Bell initiative, which provided 200,000 food packages to children who rely on school-based meal programs during the school year. This summer, 31 of T4C network carriers delivered 403 pallets of food to 94 food banks nationwide.
T4C has also continued its support of Project FoodChain this year, a charity aiding the unhoused population in Toronto and surrounding areas.
Since 2021, the organization has coordinated the delivery of 505 pallets of bottled water, equivalent to over 43,750 cases and 1.258 million pounds in total.
At its partnership appreciation luncheon in Toronto yesterday, T4C celebrated these milestones with a network of carriers, suppliers, and charity partners, highlighting the collective impact on communities across Canada.
