Globocam makes employees’ dreams come true

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Montreal-based heavy-duty truck dealership Globocam has decided to offer a unique gift to its employees: the opportunity for some to realize their greatest dream.

This is what Rêve de vie (Dream of Life) proposes, an initiative of the dealership network, which is committed to realizing 30 dreams of life per year among all its employees. The idea comes from Maxime Boyer, president of Globocam, who took advantage of the company’s anniversary to do something exceptional for his employees.

“It allows employees to fulfil themselves not only their professionally within the organization, but also on a personal level,” said Marie-France Parisé, Globocam’s vice-president, talent and culture.

So far, 14 out of 30 dreams have been announced. These are quite varied; there’s travel, of course, but also the chance to have one’s teeth done, or to go to Japan to visit a family member. “People are happy and can’t believe it,” adds Parisé. “Employees are extremely touched that we make these gestures for them.”

A selection committee made up of four members of senior management, who are ineligible for the program, was set up to choose 30 proposals from the dreams of hundreds of Globocam’s employees.

To be eligible, employees must have at least two years’ continuous service with the company and hold a full-time position.

Selection based on nature of dream

“We wanted to have a spread across the dealerships,” says Parisé. “We wanted to recognize people who have been there longer, for example 20 or 30 years, but also employees who have been there a little less time.”

Another important element for the members of the selection committee is the nature of the dream. They opted for dreams that touched deep-seated interests and would have a significant impact on employees. But, above all, the dream had to be achievable.

“For example, buying a Ferrari is not an achievable dream, because we know very well that we can’t buy 30 Ferraris a year for employees,” Parisé said.

New York art exhibition

André Lapointe, purchasing manager, and Emmanuelle Wilhelm, human resources coordinator at Globocam Boucherville, were surprised to learn at Globocam’s 30th anniversary gala that their dreams were about to come true.

Lapointe will become a baseball player for a week, training with the Boston Red Sox at the Red Box Fantasy Camp this winter. Wilhem will see her artwork exhibited in a New York gallery in May 2025.

“It’s fantastic that Globocam allows us to submit our dreams and live them, it’s proof that they take their employees to heart,” Lapointe said.

“It was unexpected for me. I’ll be forever grateful to Globocam for enabling me to realize this dream, because I couldn’t have done it on my own,” Wilhelm said. “Of course, it means a lot to me. For people to be able to see my work exhibited in New York is something I couldn’t have hoped for. It’s priceless. It’s fabulous.”
